Liberal Democrats Online: e-policy overview

Government sources of information

Not just for e-campaigning - this is intended to be a useful collection of resources for people doing any kind of campaigning!

National information

Houses of Parliament:
All kinds of good stuff, including House of Commons Research Papers, Hansard (searchable), Public Bills before Parliament and the Register of Members Interests. Perhaps the most useful page is the one summarising all Commons Publications on the internet.
Government statistical service
Useful source of national campaigning information, including the statbase system and recent press releases. It also has a useful collection of links to other government departments and other useful links to helpful statistics.
Acts of Parliament
Full details of all acts of parliament since 1997 as published by HMSO.
Office of the e-envoy
The government wants to make the UK the best place in the world to do e-business and the e-envoy is the person asked by Tony Blair to make it happen. (One could argue that this is a somewhat limited view of the potential of the internet - but hey, it's a start).
open.gov.uk
Link to every government department and data-source. A bit of a last resort since it's not particularly easy to find what you're looking for.
BBC election 97 web site
Useful source of local election results and constituency profiles!

Local information

Audit commission
Useful reports on local authorities, local health authorities and the police.
Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions
Useful information for local campaigners, especially the DETR statistics pages, which include information on planning, transport and housing.
Ofsted
Access all the local school reports for your area.
upmystreet.com
Commercial site providing quick access to government information. Enter your post-code and quickly get useful local information, including results at local schools, police clear-up rates, and audit commission data on your local authority.
