Technical guides on design & the use of HTML

Web Design in a Nutshell - Jennifer Niederst
Self-explanatory.

Designing Web Usability: The Practice of Simplicity - Jakob Nielsen
At least two of the web-team members are regular visitors to Jakob Nielsen's use-it site. He is a passionate believer in clear and easy to follow site design.

Lie & Bos: Cascading Style Sheets
The book that was used to construct the style-sheets used on this site.

The impact of the internet on society, business and politics

Seth Godin: Permission Marketing
A helpful guide to how business (and politics) must change the way they relate to each other as a result of the impact of the internet.

Cluetrain Manifesto: the end of business as usual
Overstated, somewhat breathless, but entertaining book about how the internet is going to change everything.

Dick Morris: Vote.com
Sub-titles itself as "How big-money lobbyists and the media are losing their influence, and the Internet is giving power back to the people". Quick and entertaining book on how the internet is going to revolutionise the practise of politics. Overplays the role of online voting in the future, but more convincing on how campaigning and media will change.
